It's wonderful to see practical objects inspired by nature. Especially this time of year, when we see all things floral. Like the sillouhette of flowers integrated in the design aesthetic and combined with natural materials, just simply lovely!

Spring represents rebirth and growth.  I enjoy this time of the year when nature is filled with blooming colors. Whether they are wild flowers on the side of the road, interesting flowering succulents, a neighbor's floral-filled garden or a simple arrangement for the home, whatever floral varieties may be your favorite, they definitely brighten up one's day!

Destination: Coachella Valley

Love to dip in the mineral pool

Amazing Sunset

We headed to Coachella Valley, nope, not for the famous  music festival this past weekend, but for some much needed R&R as we finalize our site. While Desert Hot Springs does not have the same tourist appeal or pomp and circumstance as Palm Springs or it's neighboring communities, the draw in this primarily residential town is its therapeutic waters (my skin feels so soft!).

With triple digits temperature and the typical gush of wind in this part of town, I'd much rather be lounging in the mineral pool of this little cozy hidden gem. Throw in some vintage/antique furnishings, full kitchen (for a lot of the "snow birds" that come down here), oh and did I mention  the Tempur-pedic beds? This is our fave go to place for some quiet down time (don't mind the rattling windows when it's windy) and to get away from the marine layer of SD.

When one hears "road runner", the Looney Tunes character  usually comes to mind. It was great to  see a real life road runner frequenting this place (and I managed to take a picture without some Wile E. Coyote move).  And they actually wag their tails like a dog.

Well, even though we didn't go to the concerts, I love the Spring/Summer 12 collection by Comptoir des Cotonniers, inspired by the desert and perfect for Coachella or any festival this summer.

Rain or Shine: Beautiful San Diego

Sunset Cliffs

Balboa Park
Happy Friday! Even though I'm a wanderlust (dreaming of Italia right now) and an Angeleno at heart, it is only fitting to share some images of my adopted city, San Diego, dubbed "the birthplace of California". The weather this spring has been up and down lately (yes we do have a weather system here). Going from summer time beach weather to gloomy and rainy the next week.

After traveling to different places abroad, one does appreciate home more.  But once at home, sometimes I tend to take the beauty of this place for granted. It is a tourist destination after all! Whether you flop down to watch the amazing sunset or stroll around Balboa Park, these places are not to be missed when visiting this town.

So in celebration of Earth Day this weekend, let's enjoy nature's great design and beauty.

Wings to Fly

Oregon State Motto: "She Flies With Her Own Wings"  (Alis Volat Propiis)

Hello!I'm Marji and welcome to my blog. My last name means "wings" and vuela means "fly" in Spanish. While I love my home state of California, I'm drawn to this motto as I've always believed that we all have our own path to follow in our journey of life.  Though change is sometimes uncertain and since this is a milestone year (yay! I'm still getting carded), I look forward to new experiences and opportunities. Like a bird soaring to different places, I am embarking on a new ad"venture" in showcasing beautiful global design and creations. Our little online shop is launching soon.

This is a journal of insights, curiosities, adventures, inspiration and discoveries.  I look forward to sharing interesting places and lovely finds with you. And of course, getting to know inspiring and talented people along the way. While I'm drawn to simplicity and the classics, I also love to capture all the playful or quirky things I come across that make me smile.

And I hope I bring a little smile to your day.
